We Found Out That We're OLD!

It wasn't that long ago that this project would have been a snap.  It is the first major step on our kitchen remodel and it was a doozy.  Our old oak dining room table and chairs were too (way too) big for our new kitchen and we don't have a dining room for it.  We were on the hunt for an island for the kitchen that would provide additional work space, and a place for guests for dinner and playing Mexican Train.  Everything was too big, too expensive for our tight budget or just not to our crazy taste.
Our local Marketplace on FB had an ad for a "kitchen island with black granite top - $50".  My husband and a friend went and picked it up.  It was a beautiful piece of granite and a marvelous old heavy wood "buffet".  We had the paint that we are going to use throughout the home, stole the time to do the sanding & painting and this marvelous island is one of the results.  The other results; sore muscles, aching & torqued backs and discovering that we are older than our brains think we are!
The first 2 bar stools for it arrived this week, next month 2 more, etc. until we have enough for 6. They are amazing!  I love the extra room I have to work on, and the fact that we don't have to struggle with getting around the dining room table to get to the microwave and oven on one side and the fridge, dishes, etc. on the other side.  Now to move the behemoth all the way to the left and uncovering the window. Bob already got rid of the "violent violet" trim. (that is a whole 'nother story!) The reason the behemoth is centered on the wall appears to be the length of the power cord! Bonus is that it will be closer to the kitchen sink so we can run a water line to the fridge so we can have ice and water.

After 10 years in the motor home it is marvelous to have all this room.
